Summer is here, which means protecting your skin is more important than ever! Sunscreen is the #1 anti-aging tip, so let’s break down the top do’s and don’ts for proper sun protection.

Do’s:

  1. Reapply every 2 hours, especially if you’re outdoors. Sunscreen loses effectiveness over time, so keep reapplying throughout the day.

  2. Use other forms of sun protection with sunscreen. Seek shade, wear hats, and use sunglasses to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.

  3. Apply sunscreen even when you’re inside. UV rays can still reach you through windows, so don’t skip this step.

  4. Look for “water-resistant” on the label. This ensures your sunscreen stays effective during swimming or sweating.

Don’ts:

  1. Don’t forget your scalp, eyelids, back of your neck, chest, hands, and feet. These often overlooked areas are vulnerable to sunburn.

  2. Don’t apply sunscreen to babies younger than 6 months old. Instead, keep them shaded and covered in lightweight clothing.

  3. Don’t apply sunscreen right before going into the sun. Give it time to absorb and fully set in before exposure.

  4. Don’t rely solely on SPF. Seek shade and use physical barriers like clothing or hats for additional protection.

  5. Don’t depend on the SPF in your makeup. Even with SPF, makeup isn’t enough for full protection, so always layer with sunscreen.
